20:03Now PlayingThe first tranche of a 90 billion euro ($106 billion) loan package from the European Union will be directed toward domestic weapons production, including drones, to protect Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Sunday. Several billion dollars will also be allocated to protect energy facilities to prepare for next winter, he said. "By next winter, we need to protect everything we can as much as possible. For this, in addition to local budgets, a portion of funds from the central budget will be allocated," he told reporters after talks with Moldovan President, Maia Sandu. The EU approved the loan package last week to help Ukraine meet its economic and military needs for two years after oil began flowing through a key pipeline to Hungary and Slovakia, ending months of political deadlock. The EU also approved a new raft of sanctions against Russia over its war on Ukraine.
