42:51Now PlayingIn 1958, scholar Morton Smith discovered a letter in the Mar Saba monastery written by Clement of Alexandria. The letter claims that the Gospel of Mark originally contained secret teachings and temple rituals from Jesus that were later removed.
This letter (often called the Mar Saba Letter or Secret Mark) suggests that Mark wrote a “more spiritual gospel” for those being perfected — one that included hierophantic (temple) teachings from the risen Christ during His 40-day ministry.
