But Bolsonaro isn’t the first person to make this claim. Linking Nazism to an opposition party is a longrunning political trope. This iteration, where the Nazis are leftist, has spread widely online for almost a decade. In Brazil, Olavo de Carvalho and Nando Moura have repeated this false claim, and GOP members of Congress have also referenced it.
