Video shows federal agents detained people in Portland based on inaccurate, insufficient information

As protests over the death of George Floyd swept Portland, agents from across the U.S. Department of Homeland Security were deputized to help protect the city’s federal buildings from protesters. But in midJuly on social media, reports swirled about protesters being swept into unmarked vans by individuals wearing camouflage fatigues. To gain insight into the Trump administration’s response in Portland, The Washington Post conducted an indepth examination of four instances when unsuspecting people were scooped up from the city’s streets by heavilyarmed federal agents in the middle of the night, based on information that turned out to be inaccurate or insufficient to charge them with a crime. From detention to release, the four people described experiences they found harrowing and unnerving.
