as posted by the channel

Join Post reporters as the House of Representatives convenes without a speaker on Oct. 19. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) will not seek an additional speaker vote. The position has remained vacant since Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) was ousted from the post.

The next speaker will face the immediate and daunting task of averting a government shutdown. That will require achieving something that McCarthy couldn’t: reaching a funding deal that the Republican House and Democratic Senate will pass, and that President Biden will sign, without losing the gavel.
