Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for New York City mayor, made his case to congressional Democrats at a fireside chat hosted by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York) on July 16.

Rep Debbie Dingell, D-Michigan) called Mamdani “a very personable smart young man." Mamdani has secured endorsements from four of the 12 congressional Democrats representing New York City. Notably, missing from the group Wednesday morning was Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, (D-New York) who said he would meet with Mamdani on Friday. As far as winning more support among D.C. Democrats at least one supporter is encouraging the delegation to fall in line behind the 33-year-old.
