The event, which organizing group God Behind Bars described as a way to provide a sense of hope and a chance for the families to bond, brought together dads and daughters who had been separated for months, and in some cases years.
“Seeing her in a dress, crying and running to me just broke me down,” said Leslie Harris, a father who has nine years left on his sentence, in a phone interview from the Louisiana State Penitentiary.
