0:41Now PlayingLarge crowds have been coming out to support a group of Buddhist monks on their 2,300-mile “Walk for Peace” from Fort Worth to Washington, D.C.
This weekend, the monks braved cold and snow as they passed through Raleigh, North Carolina, canceling one peace talk due to the weather but continuing their journey despite the conditions.
The walk is a meditative tradition more common in South Asian countries, and it’s resonating now in the U.S., seemingly as a welcome respite from the conflict, trauma and politics dividing the nation. The monks say their aim is to promote mindfulness and healing and finding inner peace.
