as posted by the channelAt least 164 people have been killed and roughly a thousand are injured after two major earthquakes shook the Venezuelan capital of Caracas on Wednesday night, toppling several buildings and sending people rushing out of their damaged homes. The death toll is expected to rise.
The quakes were among the strongest to hit Venezuela in the past century, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Interim President Delcy Rodríguez declared a state of emergency and said the electrical grid and water access had been affected in several areas.
Following the quakes in Venezuela, a separate 5.6-magnitude tremor hit Northern California and a 6.9-magnitude earthquake was reported in Japan.
