A Crisis of Faith at the Heart of Belief

Living and working at the Jehovah's Witnesses Headquarters was, for many, a dream realized—a chance to serve at the epicenter of a global spiritual movement. Yet, for me, it became the backdrop for a profound internal struggle.

Initially, I was filled with awe and reverence for the responsibility bestowed upon me. However, over time, cracks began to appear in the once unassailable edifice of my beliefs.

As I immersed myself in the daily operations, I began to witness the human frailties that permeated even the highest echelons of the organization. Decisions were sometimes driven more by policy and business than compassion, more by tradition than truth.

Conversations with fellow members, often whispered and furtive, revealed that I was not alone in my doubts. Others, too, were grappling with the discrepancies between the ideals we preached and the realities we practiced. The realization that questions were often discouraged, or worse, seen as disloyalty, deepened my inner conflict.

The turning point came during a critical point, when I had a major accident while at work. It highlighted the Corporate part of religion as God was certainly absent on every level. The brothers who ran the organization dropped me on my head.... and I was not the only one.

My faith, once a source of comfort and certainty, now felt like a constraint. The teachings that once resonated deeply seemed increasingly disconnected from the spiritual journey I found myself on. The search for truth, which had initially drawn me to the faith, was now pulling me away from it.

Leaving was not easy. It meant stepping away from a community that had been my family, a life that had defined me. But it was also a step towards authenticity and a broader understanding of faith and spirituality that transcended the confines of any one belief system.
