I need to say something that’s probably going to piss off a lot of people.
America has backed itself into a corner where we’re told we only have two options.
Red or blue.
Right or left.
Republican or Democrat.
And both options are broken.
Not imperfect.
Not “needs reform.”
Broken.
What’s worse isn’t that the system fails - systems fail all the time. What’s worse is that most Americans have been completely orphaned by it. If you’re not screaming with one side or the other, you’re treated like you don’t exist. Or worse - like the enemy.
I see this insanity every day.
I can’t post about saving a life - pulling a kid out of violence, housing a trafficking survivor, stopping a fentanyl overdose - without someone asking:
“Yeah, but what side are you on?”
Like…dude if we just saved a baby or a life…
Who I vote for is irrelevant.
Somewhere along the way, we replaced character with checklists. If someone disagrees with us on one issue, we decide they must be evil on all of them. That’s not politics. That’s a cult mindset.
I don’t live on social media or cable news.
I live where ideology collapses under pressure.
South Memphis.
Trap houses turned sober homes.
Emergency rooms, courtrooms, refugee camps, and war zones.
In those places, no one asks your political affiliation before deciding whether you bleed out.
Here’s a radical idea that somehow became controversial:
You can support immigration and believe borders matter.
You can welcome immigrants and deport violent criminals.
You can believe abortion should be rare and tragic while recognizing real-world complexity.
You can believe in redemption and still believe violent criminals belong in prison.
That’s not extremism.
That’s adulthood.
I’ve watched punishment alone fail.
I’ve watched compassion without accountability fail too.
Reality doesn’t bend to slogans.
The answer isn’t “lock everyone up.”
The answer isn’t “let everyone go.”
The answer is the hard, exhausting work in the middle - where most Americans actually stand.
But the political system doesn’t serve the middle.
It feeds on outrage and tribal loyalty.
It trains us to ask one question before listening:
“Is this person on my team?”
That question has done more damage to this country than any foreign enemy.
Here’s the truth nobody wants to admit:
Both parties are addicted to extremes.
Both profit from division.
Neither owns morality or truth.
If your compassion only extends to people who vote like you, it isn’t compassion - it’s branding.
I don’t need agreement.
I need neighbors to stop turning each other into enemies.
Violent crime.
Addiction.
Trafficking.
Broken families.
Those problems don’t care how you vote.
They care whether you show up.
So no - I’m not interested in red versus blue.
I’m interested in saving lives.
Fixing what’s broken.
Building something better than this endless screaming match.
If that makes me politically homeless?
Good.
Maybe that’s exactly where the rebuild starts.
