San Francisco's 9th circuit court of appeals found that "the Second Amendment does not protect the rights of unlawful drug users to bear arms." The ruling in this case (United States vs. Dugan) affects people in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. However, plaintiff S. Rowan Wilson, who was denied the purchase of a firearm in 2011 after she obtained a medical marijuana card, has vowed to appeal the verdict.
