Ever since Ken Bone asked a question on fossil fuels at the second presidential debate, he's become an internet fixture, a sought after celebrity, and now an irresistible halloween costume. Yet the rollercoaster that's been his 15 minutes of fame has seen him portrayed in many different lights. So when you're deciding how to dress like Ken Bone this Halloween, it's important to know the history of the bone zone.
First, Ken was adulated for his aw-shucks, everyman persona. Then he was torched for a Reddit comment history that included admitting to watching and, worse, enjoying pornography - a revelation that roiled the internet. Publications like the New York Daily News asserted that his appreciation of Jennifer Lawrence's butthole was simply beyond the pale and unbecoming of our manufactured heroes.
Yet that wasn't enough. Commentators both on the internet and shows like Real Time with Bill Maher ripped him for being undecided, or having complicated opinions on cases like Trayvon Martin. People asked - how dare someone who was only introduced to them as an undecided voter not have already decided to agree with them?
Finally, thanks to the expert tailors at We the Internet, each of these presentations of Ken Bone has its own costume. Like Batman, the interpretation of his character can range from a postive cartoon to a gritty, dark anti-hero who has lived just long enough to see himself become the monster.
