Why is tuition so [expletive] expensive? Could lazy rivers have something to do with it? Education policy expert Jared Meyer explains to students and We the Internet Host Lou Perez how much tuition has increased, the kinds of amenities that have partially driven the increase, and what students may not realize about the loans they're taking out to pay it. How do you think we should make college affordable? Let us know in the comments and SUBSCRIBE for more funny and informative videos every week!

Part of what's driving huge college debt is, well, huge college tuition. The Manhattan Institute's Jared Meyer, author of Disinherited: How Washington is Betraying America's Young, goes through the numbers behind skyrocketing tuition costs. When it comes to causes, bloated administration costs, slashed state funding, and the ready availability of unlimited federal student loans play a role - but one stands out in particular: the growth of luxury amenities from lazy rivers at Boston University and other schools to tanning pools at Southern Methodist University and rock climbing walls at other colleges. Are the premium perks universities use to lure students a shortsighted draw which leaves them with unexpectedly high payments down the road? Let us know what you think and check out our other videos on America's convoluted system of higher education!
