When Barack Obama signed a major deal with Netflix, he signed up for a higher degree of scrutiny than he has ever experienced before, and his past is being put under a microscope. Every culturally insensitive remark, every minor indiscretion, every innocent civilian he's had killed is being dredged up by social media outrage culture and paraded back into the public spotlight. When do we stop and say "the past is the past"? When will we finally accept the fact that people are human, and humans make mistakes?
Many of Obama's mistakes took place years ago. He was in his early 50s when he performed those deeds, he's in his mid-50s now. Surely we can accept that people grow and change over the years, right? Let's choose to let bygones be bygones, and focus instead on all of the positive, socially conscious programming that Barack Obama is going to create now.
