CORRECTION! In the previous episode #12, i correctly stated that there were two big exiles from the Jewish kingdoms, in the 8thC (Assyrian exile) and 5thC’s BCE (Babylonian exile), and that there was a long continuous emigration after the Bar Kokhba revolt was put down in the 2nd century. However for some reason, in this episode i mistakenly said that the first exile was in the 6th century, and the second one was after the roman’s defeated the Judean uprising in 73CE … that is not correct, the Romans destroyed the temple and ended the Jewish province of Judea, but they did not exile the Jews. The idea of a roman exile was based on reporting by Josephus which is not substantiated by anything, but was a big part of Jewish mythology until archaeologists and historians pointed out that there’s just no evidence for it. Sorry for this!
