as posted by the channel►Amber Sax lost her husband Capt. John Sax on June 8, 2022 in an Osprey crash near Glamis, California. She spoke with CBS New Sacramento about her husband, his mission to fly for the military, and her ongoing concerns about the Osprey aircraft, especially, in light of the November 29th Osprey crash in Japan.
She hired Wisner Baum aviation attorney and senior partner Timothy Loranger (a Marine Corps veteran, former pilot and aircraft mechanic, ) to find out what happened to her husband’s aircraft and to prepare a product liability claim against the manufacturer, BellBoeing, for any mechanical defects that caused the Osprey to crash. The military investigation determined in July 2023 that her husband’s crash was caused by a catastrophic mechanical failure, a dual hard clutch engagement (HCE) which created a
Single Engine and Interconnect Drive System (Single Engine/ICDS) failure, resulting in a catastrophic loss of thrust in the right-hand (RH) proprotor. But it failed to determine why the system failed.
Since the loss of her husband, Sax has been advocating for more accountability and transparency from the military and the manufacturer of the Osprey. She sent CBS13 this statement in response to the Japan Osprey tragedy:
"We are each devastated for the loved ones of the families affected by this mishap, as well as the Air Force, and the Osprey communities. Each time the news breaks of another aircraft going down, it sends a shockwave that is felt throughout the entire community. Although Ospreys are in service across 3 branches, this community is very small. We continue to feel desperate for answers and to see the safety of our service members being taken as seriously as possible. We want to know that every effort is being made to identify, address, and fix all safety risks that have been identified within our military aircraft.
