0:54Now PlayingThere was an eclipse on one of the most painful days of the Prophet ﷺ's life. He reminded the ummah about the eclipse prayer.
How to pray Salat al-Kusuf (the eclipse prayer):
It's 2 rak’ahs, prayed in congregation if possible. No adhan or iqamah.
In each rak’ah: Recite Surah al-Fatihah + a long surah, then a long ruku, then rise and recite al-Fatihah + another surah again, then bow a second time, then go into sujood as normal. So each rak’ah has 2 standings, 2 bowings, and 2 prostrations.
After the prayer, it's sunnah to give a khutbah reminding people of Allah's power, as the Prophet ﷺ did.
Beyond the prayer, it's sunnah to make du’a and dhikr until the eclipse ends, give charity, and seek Allah’s forgiveness.
