as posted by the channelNotes from Below are a British political group and journal who draw lessons from the Italian labour struggles from the 1960-70s to understand the limits of the modes of organising traditionally deployed by the militant left. Following the Italian operaistas, Notes begin their politics, not in the party or in a study replete with books on history and theory, but in the workplace.
In September 2021, Notes began the Class Composition Project, whose purpose was to understand our current conjuncture better by starting with the experiences of workers in Britain who suffer its consequences and drive its developments. Based on this project, Notes have released a book, Class Composition in Britain. In this episode, Kenny and the Notes from Below collective discuss the key findings of this book, especially the potential for future resistance opened by its discoveries, its theoretical background, and the work being done elsewhere by Notes.
