Community honors first responders after Evergreen high school tragedy

In a show of unity and gratitude, students, staff and neighbors organized “Thank the Helpers,” an event dedicated to honoring those who responded in the aftermath of the incident.

Evergreen High School student body co-president Tyler Guyton presented Deputy Tucker, the school’s resource officer, with a plaque and more than 250 handwritten thank-you cards from students, staff and community members.

Evergreen Fire/Rescue, along with local bus drivers, library staff and the community recreation center, were also recognized for their roles in helping the community during a difficult time.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office shared photos and a statement on social media, calling the tribute a powerful reminder that “healing happens when a community stands together with compassion, courage and care.”
