But the challenges didn’t stop there.
In 2024, Cooper returned home and gave his parents a Christmas gift they’ll never forget. Just four days later, his father Mike — his lifelong coach, mentor, and #1 fan — suffered a major stroke.
Now, Mike is in Milan, cheering Cooper on with the help of a red, white, and blue wheelchair as Cooper prepares to race in the 500m long track.
