0:25Now PlayingRegis University will introduce a deposit-and-return reusable cup system to help eliminate single-use waste.
Under the new program, students and staff pay a refundable $2 deposit when purchasing a drink served in a reusable cup. Once finished, the cup can be returned to receive the deposit back or exchanged for another cup on their next purchase.
The resuable cup company, 2GoCup, said Regis University is the first university in the United States to use its service.
The company said its cup systen is used in more than 800 locations across the United Kingdom and Ireland, including more than 30 universities.
"We're thrilled to be partnering with Regis University," said 2GoCup CEO and founder Kevin Murphy. "This marks a major milestone for 2GoCup, and we're excited to build on this momentum as we expand our mission to eliminate single-use waste."
