They say the similarities in language confirm that much of Oceania was settled by migrants who originated in Taiwan.
Bernadette looks at the Taiwanese perspective. Taiwan has been an official guest at the last two Festivals of Pacific Arts, and while it is yet to have the same status as delegations from Pacific nations, the Taiwanese participants say theres increasing recognition and acceptance of the language and genetic links between Taiwans indigenous people and many Pacific islanders.
We finish this episode of Pacific Pulse with a feminine touch and the traditional fan dance performed by Fijian women.
