Bulong, Western Australia, was once a thriving mining community boasting its own school, a courthouse, a general store and numerous houses among the trees.

By 1970 however, everything and everyone in Bulong had gone. That is, everyone except Hilda Jarvis.

A lifelong resident of Bulong – her father was once mayor – Hilda lived alone on a remote property caring for her beloved family of goats.

When drought hit and the government reclassified the goats as vermin, things began to change for Hilda.
