To celebrate the 75th birthday of ABC Rural, Landline shared a day in the life of rural reporters from across Australia.
Rural reporter, Jon Daly is based in the Northern Territory town of Katherine and covers the Top End of Australia.
His patch is roughly 650,000 square kilometres which is roughly the same size as France.
Isolation and autonomy come with the job.
Jon recently visited the Aboriginal community of Wadeye and provided a behind the scenes look at what it is like to be a rural reporter in one of the remotest parts of Australia.
