3:22Now PlayingWhen Juanita Watters discovered her family's 80-year collection of Christmas decorations reduced to ashes in the Cobargo bushfire, she called on crafters to help those who lost everything.
With her friend Bianca Brownlow, she started the #remakechristmas Facebook group, which quickly grew to over 700 members across Australia and around the world.
Juanita had imagined people would make a few decorations and send them in, but she received boxes and boxes of intricate handmade creations, which were distributed to the Cobargo and Quaama communities.
As the first anniversary of the fires approaches and families prepare for a tough Christmas, the handcrafted decorations are a small reminder of the outpouring of care and concern from across Australia and the world in the wake of Australia’s worst fire season.
