4:59Now PlayingThis is the story of a farmer called Turtle who immortalised a local Aussie pet, Eric the emu, a beer-drinking, cigarette-eating regular at the Darke Peak Hotel front bar in the early 1990s.
In the end Eric turned out to be Erica, and Turtle turned out to be quite the artist. Peter “Turtle” Crosby is a farmer at Cleve and he started making small animals out of farm machinery and tools. Wrenches and spanners became lizards and frogs, a gas bottle became a rotund pig and a spring became a dog. But it was while having a beer at the Darke Peak pub after a footy match that his hobby got bigger.
