YouTube Description
as posted by the channelThey were one of the last coastal Aboriginal tribes to be removed from their homeland by missionaries in the 1940s, but the Kaiadilt people have never given up on their homeland.
Just a handful of Kaiadilt elders remain who were born on their traditional land, Bentinck Island, a 180-square kilometre stretch of arid land and reefs, surrounded by the rich waters of the southern Gulf of Carpentaria.
As children, they were taken to Mornington Island to be raised by missionaries.
Within their own lifetimes, they have experienced the entire history of the colonial occupation of Australia, and the movement towards self-determination and cultural renewal.
