7:21Now PlayingLarge crowds braved wet weather on Friday, July 8, to participate in the 2022 Victorian NAIDOC Week March, from the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service on Nicholson Street Fitzroy via Parliament House en route to Federation Square.
Proud Wiradjuri and Palawa man, ABC reporter Isaac Muller, joined the march to ask participants what this year's NAIDOC Week theme Get Up, Stand Up, Show Up meant to them.
He spoke to Marcia Galea a e member of the Victorian NAIDOC Week Committee, Stacie Piper who chairs the Victorian NAIDOC Week Committee, Uncle Henry Atkinson who was honoured with the 2022 Patron/Elder Award, Auntie Pam Pedersen a Yorta Yorta Elder, Naomi Kennedy-Bamblett who was named Miss NAIDOC 2022 and Yemurraki Egan who was named Mr NAIDOC 2022. Isaac also spoke to Indigenous and non-Indigenous people participating in the march along the route.
