Have you ever looked at a forecast and seen the “feels like” temperature...and wondered what that is based on?
Believe it or not…. It’s not just stepping outside and getting a vibe. The Bureau of Meteorology has a specific calculation.
If it’s a windy day, it’ll often feel colder than the actual air temperature. And if it’s muggy day it’ll often feel warmer.
But also... the BOM’s calculation is assuming you’re dressed appropriately for the season And it assumes you’re in the shade because direct sunlight can feel much warmer.
The feels like temperature, compared to the forecast temp, can be 10 even 15 degrees different at times.
