Like all long-term relationships, this one's had a lot of ups and downs, but they've stuck together. For the U.S., India has been the nuclear and economic powerhouse in Asia that can be used to push back against expanding Chinese influence. For India, the U.S. is a good military and economic ally. But that's about it, because it seems India isn't looking to rely on anyone – including its biggest ally.
