Tim Morrison, a former White House official who served on the National Security Council, testified that he notified the National Security Council lawyers about President Donald Trump’s July 25 call with Ukraine’s president, but was not concerned about the conversation. “Did anything concern you on the call?” Republican counsel Stephen Castor asked. “No,” Morrison replied. Morrison said he reported the call to the lawyers because National Security Council legal representatives were not on the call and because he wanted to make sure the contents of the call were not leaked due to the potential political ramifications and the risk of the degradation of bipartisan support for Ukraine. Morrison testified on Nov. 19 in a public hearing as part of the impeachment inquiry into Trump. The probe centers on the July call in which Trump asked the president of Ukraine to investigate former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.
