Democratic counsel Daniel Goldman questioned Gordon Sondland, the U.S. ambassador to the European Union, on Nov. 20 in a public hearing as part of the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. Goldman asked Sondland if Trump had directed him and others to go through his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani for matters related to Ukraine. "If we wanted to get anything done with Ukraine, it was apparent to us, we needed to talk to Rudy." Goldman further asked if Sondland understood that Giuliani spoke for the president. "That's correct," Sondland said.
