Rep. Adam Schiff, the chair of the House Intelligence Committee, said that President Donald Trump withholding U.S. aid to Ukraine is “beyond anything that Nixon did.” Schiff spoke during closing statement in a Nov. 21 hearing as part of the impeachment inquiry into Trump. The probe seeks, in part, to determine whether Trump used U.S. aid as a bargaining chip to get Ukraine to investigate his political rivals. Schiff said the difference between what is happening now and the Nixon era is “not the difference between Nixon and Trump. The difference is between that Congress and this one,” adding that Congress should act out of sense of duty.
