2:56Now PlayingTrump's first impeachment - 2020
Rep. John Ratcliffe, R-Texas, sought clarification from Laura Cooper, a deputy assistant secretary of defense, about her testimony that Ukrainians inquired about U.S. aid that was being withheld. Ratcliffe asked whether emails Cooper mentioned in her testimony during an impeachment hearing indicated Ukrainians asked about the hold or just about the aid in general. “You can’t say one way or another whether the Ukrainians knew about the hold before the August 18 when it was reported in Politico, correct?” Ratcliffe asked. “I can just tell you that is the recollection of my staff, that they likely knew,” Cooper replied. Cooper testified as part of the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. The probe is seeking answers on whether Trump used U.S. aid as a bargaining trip to get Ukraine to investigate his political rivals.
