Trump's first impeachment - 2020

During the six hours of debate ahead of the House impeachment vote, Rep. Val Demings, D-Fla., said it was a sense of duty --and not necessarily courage -- to hold powerful people accountable. "I know the president said that he can get away with anything he wants to. I come today to tell you that no, he cannot because no one is above the law, and he shall be held accountable," Demings said, standing next to a large placard that mirrored her message. Trump has been charged with two articles of impeachment--abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. If passed, the process will then head for a trial in the Senate, where Republicans have a majority. Earlier in the day, the House voted to approve rules for the vote.
