as posted by the channelAfrican-American studies professor Eddie Glaude Jr., of Princeton University, said that although public opinion polling indicates that Americans have become more aware of issues surrounding racism in recent years, they don’t necessarily support policies that will lessen systemic racial inequity in the United States. “As America gets less racist...there is no necessary correlation between that public opinion data and America actually implementing policies to transform deep structural inequalities,” Glaude said. He added it was important to drill down on candidates’ positions on issues that actually affect people of color living in the U.S., such as policing and safety. Glaude joined PBS NewsHour senior political reporter Dan Bush to discuss about the 2020 presidential race on the first night of the Democratic National Convention, which is being held virtually this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
