Dick Durbin, D-Ill., accused Republicans of relying on the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to complete their goal of repealing the Affordable Care Act after they failed to do so in Congress. “It's unimaginable that in the midst of a pandemic, the Republicans want to strike down a law that 23 million Americans rely on for their personal health insurance and millions more for the protections given to the writing of future insurance policies,” Durbin said. He noted that President Donald Trump has continuously made clear his desire to repeal the Obama-era health care plan through tweets and public statements, and has said he would appoint a Supreme Court justice that would help him accomplish this goal. “[Republicans] couldn't get it done in the House,” Durbin said of repealing the ACA. “They couldn't get it done in the Senate, thanks to three brave Republicans, including John McCain. And now they've got to rely on the court to do their work.”
