41:56Now PlayingBruce Castor, one of former President Donald Trump’s defense lawyers in his Senate impeachment trial, argued on Feb. 12 that Trump did not incite the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, and that he is the “most pro-police, anti mob-rule president this country has ever seen.”
Castor accused Democrats of being motivated by “political hatred” in pursuing impeachment against Trump.
Multiple times during his presidency, Trump encouraged aggression against other officials and members of the news media, video evidence of which Democratic House managers used as part of their presentation on Thursday.
Castor spoke as the former president’s defense team offered their case for why the Senate should acquit Trump on the charge of inciting an insurrection for his role in the Capitol attack. Trump was impeached by the House in January, while he was still in office.
