“Your support is crucial, not just to stand in such fight, but to get to the turning point, to win on the battlefield,” Zelenskyy said. He thanked the United States for artillery, but then paused to ask, “Is it enough? Honestly, not really” — a line that drew laughter from lawmakers.
The Ukrainian president called Russian tactics in the war against his country “primitive” and cruel, noting the huge advantage that country has in artillery and ammunition. In the Eastern Ukrainian city of Bakhmut, where he visited this week, “every inch of that land is soaked in blood,” he said, later comparing it to the Revolutionary War battle in Saratoga.
“But the Ukrainian Donbas stands,” he added.
