2:18Now PlayingIn response to a question about how to help those struggling with addiction, Former President Donald Trump said during CNN's Presidential Debate that the government had gotten equipment to detect drugs and “we were getting very low numbers.”
He then pointed to human trafficking and drugs crossing the U.S. southern border, claiming it's the largest amount the country has seen.
In response, President Joe Biden said fentanyl coming across the border “went down for a while” but that a bipartisan deal to fund more equipment to detect drugs was undermined by Trump who demanded Congressional Republicans hold back their support for political reasons.
The June 27 CNN Presidential Debate was the first time Biden and Trump faced off this election season. It was also the first debate between a sitting and former president.
