as posted by the channelTexas Sen. Ted Cruz spoke at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Tuesday, a day that leading Republicans and other featured attendees were focused on the theme of immigration.
Cruz spoke about what he saw as rising crime in the United States.
"As a result of Joe Biden's presidency, your family is less safe, your children are less safe, the country is less safe,” he said. “But here's the good news: We can fix it. And when Donald Trump is president, we will fix it.”
FBI statistics released last month show that violent crime dropped more than 15 percent in the U.S. in the first quarter of 2024.
During the convention, delegates will adopt a party platform and former President Donald Trump will formally accept the Republican nomination for president. On Monday, Trump named Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio as his running mate.
