7:41Now PlayingFormer Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson said he still has concerns about former President Donald Trump’s qualifications to lead the country, citing his demeanor and his denial of the results of the 2020 election.
“I'm not endorsing him. I don't expect to vote for him. I’ve said I'm not going to support somebody who’s a convicted felon,” Hutchinson told the PBS News Hour’s Amna Nawaz at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee Thursday.
But Hutchinson also said he wouldn’t support President Joe Biden in November, saying the president “has not been a strong leader.”
Thursday is the final night of the Republican convention, an evening focused on making “America great once again” and Trump’s first speech as party nominee.
Throughout the week, Republican elected officials, party leaders, celebrities and voters have taken the stage to speak in support of Trump and his running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance. They also adopted a party platform. Trump’s Thursday night address will be his first formal public remarks since an assassination attempt against him last weekend at a rally in Pennsylvania.
