7:07Now PlayingRep. Madeleine Dean, D-Pa., questioned FBI Director Christopher Wray in a House Judiciary hearing Wednesday about the investigation into the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump on July 13 at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Dean asked Wray about the shooter’s internet search history. Wray explained that the shooter had looked up information on the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy by Lee Harvey Oswald, as well as a “certain amount of searches related to former President Trump during that period we're seeing consistent with some kind of planning or reconnaissance” ahead of the rally.
On Monday, the House Oversight Committee grilled Kimberly Cheatle, director of the U.S. Secret Service at the time of the deadly shooting. Members on both sides of the aisle called for her resignation and she announced Tuesday she was stepping down. Cheatle repeatedly referred lawmakers seeking details to the investigation being carried out by the FBI.
