WATCH: Rep. Ivey questions FBI Director Wray in House hearing on Trump shooting probe

Rep. Glenn Ivey, D-Md., questioned FBI Director Christopher Wray in a House Judiciary hearing Wednesday about the investigation into the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump on July 13 at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Ivey questioned Wray about the adequacy of security preparation ahead of the rally, as well as whether there were any interventions that the FBI director might recommend to stop gun violence by lone-wolf type shooters.

“Certainly, dangerous weapons, especially high-powered weapons in the hands of the wrong person, represent a real concern for for law enforcement, including to law enforcement,” Wray said.

On Monday, the House Oversight Committee grilled Kimberly Cheatle, director of the U.S. Secret Service at the time of the deadly shooting. Members on both sides of the aisle called for her resignation and she announced Tuesday she was stepping down. Cheatle repeatedly referred lawmakers seeking details to the investigation being carried out by the FBI.
