WATCH: Rep. Rulli questions FBI Director Wray in House hearing on Trump shooting probe

Rep. Michael Rulli, R-Ohio, questioned FBI Director Christopher Wray in a House Judiciary hearing Wednesday about the investigation into the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump on July 13 at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

When Rulli asked Wray whether he had any concerns over the FBI’s use of DEI as a “primary hiring metric” hindering Homeland Security efforts, Wray answered that DEI practices have not negatively affected the FBI’s ability to perform its duties.

“I don't believe that we use DEI as a primary hiring metric, I would say that we have not lowered our standards, and the facts back that up,” Wray said.

The House Oversight Committee grilled Kimberly Cheatle, director of the U.S. Secret Service at the time of the deadly shooting, on Monday. Members on both sides of the aisle called for her resignation and she announced Tuesday she was stepping down. Cheatle repeatedly referred lawmakers seeking details to the investigation being carried out by the FBI.
