1:25Now PlayingThere needs to be a "two-state solution" to the Israel-Palestine conflict, said Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the newly announced Democratic Vice Presidential nominee.
Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, has a "great opportunity, and I remain hopeful that that's the direction we need to go," Walz told PBS News Hour's Amna Nawaz. "It's certainly not going to be the failed policies of a wannabe dictator which we've seen out of President Trump."
Walz spoke to Nawaz in late July, before becoming Harris' running mate, about the 2024 presidential race and the ongoing war in Gaza.
"The atrocities of Oct. 7 are painful ... and Israel's right to defend itself is real," he said. "But also, the situation in Gaza is intolerable, the humanitarian crisis must be brought to an end."
