1:51Now Playing60-year-old Minnesota Governor Tim Walz was born in West Point, Nebraska. He moved to Minnesota with his wife in 1996 and taught social studies and helped coach his school’s football team to their first state championship. Walz spent 24 years in the Army National Guard, rising to command sergeant major. He served in Congress from 2007 to 2019, where he focused on agriculture policy and veterans issues. . As governor, Walz leaned into progressive causes, supporting access to abortions and gender-affirming care and gun control measures. He even signed a bill to legalize recreational marijuana for people over the age of 21. In a post on X Tuesday morning, Walz called becoming Harris’ running mate quote “the honor of a lifetime.”
