1:25Now PlayingPresident Joe Biden highlighted his administration's infrastructure accomplishments Monday at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where his vice president Kamala Harris will step into the spotlight not as a running mate but at the top of the ticket.
“[Former president] Donald Trump promised infrastructure week, every week, for four years, and he never built a damn thing,” Biden said. “And now, because of what Kamala and I have done … we’re giving America an infrastructure decade — not week.”
Biden took credit for modernizing roads, bridges, ports, airports, trains and buses. He also said his administration removed lead pipes from schools and homes and provided affordable high-speed internet and in doing so, grew the economy.
Earlier during the first day of the convention, delegates formally adopted a party platform. Later in the week, Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will formally accept their nominations as the party’s candidates.
