5:46Now PlayingFormer Green Bay Packers quarterback and businessman Brett Favre said he has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, according his testimony to the House and Ways Committee on Tuesday.
The retired NFL player spoke during a hearing about a welfare funds scandal in Mississippi. Favre has repaid over $1 million in speaking fees that were paid as part of the scandal, though a state auditor says he still owes interest for the fees.
Favre said he was also an investor in a biotech company with ties to the scandal that claimed it was developing treatments for concussions.
“As I’m sure you’ll understand, while it’s too late for me — I’ve recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s — this is also a cause dear to my heart,” Favre said.
Favre added he has lost his investment in the company that he thought "would help others.”
